Recommended Stats for Malenia/Mohg: Level 130-150+ | Vigor 60 | Weapon +25 (Maxed)
1. Accessing the Secret Areas
To reach the endgame optional areas, you need the Haligtree Secret Medallion.
- Right Half: Given to you by Albus, disguised as a pot in the Village of the Albinaurics (Liurnia).
- Left Half: Dropped by Commander Niall in Castle Sol (Mountaintops of the Giants).
- Return to the Grand Lift of Rold, but select the prompt to "Hoist Secret Medallion". This takes you to the Hidden Path to the Haligtree, which leads to the Consecrated Snowfield.
2. Mohgwyn Palace & Mohg, Lord of Blood
An underground blood swamp. You can access it via a teleporter in the western Consecrated Snowfield, or earlier in the game by completing Varré's questline.
- The Best Rune Farm: The "Palace Approach Ledge-Road" Site of Grace overlooks a crowd of dormant Albinaurics. Using a massive AoE weapon (like the Sacred Relic Sword) here yields millions of runes per hour.
- Purifying Crystal Tear: Essential for the boss fight. Defeat Eleonora at the Second Church of Marika (Altus Plateau) to get this. Mix it in your Flask of Wondrous Physick and drink it during the boss transition to survive his unavoidable curse.
- Mohg Strategy: He is ironically very weak to Bleed. Use the Purifying Crystal Tear, stay close, and dodge his bloodflame throws.
3. Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree
The hardest legacy dungeon in the game, culminating in the hardest boss. Accessed by solving the puzzle in Ordina, Liturgical Town (Consecrated Snowfield).
- The dungeon is heavily guarded by Haligtree Knights, Cleanrot Knights, and Revenants. Take it extremely slow and use ranged attacks to pull enemies one by one.
- Equip the Haligdrake Talisman +2 (found early in this area) and the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman (found near the bottom) to maximize your defenses.
4. Boss Strategy: Malenia, Blade of Miquella
The ultimate challenge of Elden Ring. She heals every time she hits you, even if you block.
- Weaknesses: Bleed, Frostbite, and Fire. She is very easily staggered. Using heavy jumping attacks or fast Bleed weapons is the best approach.
- Waterfowl Dance: Her infamous spinning attack in Phase 1. If you see her jump high into the air, sprint directly away immediately. For the second flurry, roll into her. For the third, walk towards her and backwards. (Alternatively, throw a Freezing Pot at her while she's in the air to cancel the attack instantly).
- Phase 2 (Goddess of Rot): She opens with Scarlet Aeonia, a massive flower explosion. Unlock the camera, sprint straight underneath and past her to avoid it. Wait for the petals to fade completely before attacking again. Play defensively and only punish her heavy slam attacks.
