Recommended Stats Before Morgott: Level 80-100 | Vigor 45 | Weapon +18 to +20
1. Accessing the Capital
- Outer Wall: Approaching from the Altus Plateau, you'll first face the outer wall. You can run past the tree sentinels and the gargoyle.
- Draconic Tree Sentinel: To actually enter the capital (the northern gate), you must defeat this mandatory boss. He deals heavy lightning damage, so equip the Boltdrake Talisman. If struggling, summon Millicent or Tragoth (if you helped them) and use Poison/Rot, as he is very weak to it.
- Two Great Runes Required: The door behind the Draconic Tree Sentinel will only open if you have claimed at least two Great Runes (e.g., Godrick, Rennala, Radahn) and spoken to Enia at the Roundtable Hold.
2. Things to Do Before the Boss
- Bolt of Gransax: This legendary weapon is lying on the giant stone spear sticking out of the capital. You MUST grab this before completing Part 7 of the walkthrough, or it will be lost forever.
- Subterranean Shunning-Grounds: Find the well in the lower district of the capital to enter the sewers. This is a massive, maze-like optional area that leads to Mohg, the Omen, and the Frenzied Flame ending.
3. Navigating Leyndell
- Follow the main avenue until you reach a massive dead dragon. Climb its wing.
- From the dragon's wing, jump onto the giant tree roots. These roots act as bridges leading up into the Erdtree Sanctuary.
- Mini-Boss: Godfrey (Golden Shade): Before the main boss, you'll fight a spectral version of the first Elden Lord. He relies purely on physical attacks and stomps. Jump over his ground stomps instead of rolling.
4. Boss Strategy: Morgott, the Omen King
Morgott is Margit's true form, and he is vastly more agile and dangerous.
- Weaknesses: Slash damage. He is resistant to Holy damage.
- Margit's Shackle: Yes, the exact same shackle you used in Limgrave works on Morgott here in the capital, but only during his first phase. Pin him to the ground twice to get massive free damage.
- Summons: You can summon Melina for this fight right outside the fog gate. She is an excellent support caster who can heal you and apply a buff.
- Phase 2: At 50% health, he coughs up cursed blood and the area erupts. Stay far back during this transition. His sword attacks will now trail blood or holy magic, extending their range. Keep a medium distance and only punish his heavy jumping attacks.
