0. Character Creation: Class & Keepsake

Before you step foot in Limgrave, you must choose your starting class and keepsake. For beginners, we highly recommend the Vagabond class for survivability, and the Golden Seed keepsake for an immediate extra healing flask.

0.5. Important Items to Find

Elden Ring is massive, and you need to prioritize finding certain items to survive. Always be on the lookout for Golden Seeds (to increase flask uses), Sacred Tears (to increase flask healing power), and Smithing Stones (to upgrade your weapons).

1. Where to Start & Early Steps

• The First Step: Talk to Varré outside the starting building. Follow the guidance of grace towards the Church of Elleh.
• Church of Elleh: Talk to Kalé, buy the Crafting Kit and a Torch.
• Gatefront Ruins: Sneak in to grab the Whetstone Knife and the Map Fragment. Rest at the nearby Site of Grace to meet Melina and get your spectral steed, Torrent.

• Return to Elleh at Night: Fast travel back to the Church of Elleh at night to meet Ranni (Renna). She will give you the Spirit Calling Bell and Lone Wolf Ashes.

2. Things to Do Before the Boss (Weeping Peninsula Route)

Do not go to Stormveil Castle immediately. Head South to the Weeping Peninsula to level up and gather sacred tears for your flasks.

• Visit the three ruined churches in Weeping Peninsula (Pilgrimage, Fourth, and Baptismal) for Sacred Tears.
• Collect Golden Seeds located at glowing saplings around Limgrave to increase your flask uses.
• Blaidd's Quest: Go to Mistwood Ruins, hear howling, talk to Kalé to get a gesture, return and use it to meet Blaidd. Help him kill Darriwil in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol for a great early weapon (Bloodhound's Fang).
• Limgrave Tunnels: Clear this mine at the northern tip of Agheel Lake to get Smithing Stones to upgrade your weapon to at least +3.

3. Boss Strategy: Margit, the Fell Omen

Margit is the first major roadblock. He guards the entrance to Stormveil Castle.

• Weaknesses: Slash damage, Bleed, and Poison.
• Margit's Shackle: You can buy this from Patches in Murkwater Cave. It allows you to pin Margit to the ground twice during his first phase.
• Summons: Summon Sorcerer Rogier before the fog gate, and use your Lone Wolf or Jellyfish ashes to distract him.
• Tactics: Dodge *into* his sweeping attacks, not away, to avoid his punishing follow-ups. Wait for his slow overhead staff smash to get guaranteed hits in.

4. Stormveil Castle & Godrick the Grafted

• Take the side cliff path suggested by Gostoc rather than the main gate (which is heavily guarded by ballistas).
• Find Nepheli Loux in a side room before the boss door. Exhaust her dialogue to be able to summon her for the fight against Godrick.
• Godrick Strategy: Dodge his rolling wind attacks to the side. In phase 2, run behind him immediately while he breathes fire to get massive damage in.
