Major Missions & VIP Quests Walkthrough

A guide on handling major story missions and satisfying VIP customers, including the crucial Yoshie quest.

1. The Core Storyline (The Sea People)

The main storyline of Dave the Diver revolves around exploring the deeper sections of the Blue Hole and uncovering the mystery of the Sea People. Major story missions will usually be highlighted on your phone's To-Do list. Tip: Never rush these missions if your gear is under-leveled. You can take as many days as you want to upgrade your oxygen and harpoon before tackling the depths.

2. Handling VIP Customers

Periodically, Bancho Sushi will receive VIP guests. They will request a highly specific dish that requires ingredients you might not normally carry. They will give you a deadline (usually 2-3 days). If you fail, they will eventually return, but it's best to complete them immediately for the massive rewards and unlocks.

3. Yoshie's VIP Quest (Unlocking Staff)

One of the most important early-game missions happens in Chapter 1 (around Day 3 or 4). You will encounter Yoshie's VIP quest where you must serve her a Whole Roasted Shark Head. You will need to dive, defeat a Whitetip Reef Shark (found in the shallows on the far right) to harvest its head, and find Olive Oil in cooking pots. Completing this quest unlocks the vital ability to hire staff! For tips on who to hire, check out our Ultimate Bancho Sushi Management Guide.

4. Otto and the Farm Unlock

Later in the game, Otto will visit. To unlock the farming aspect of the game, you must complete his VIP quest which usually requires Moray Eel Curry. Moray Eels only come out of their hiding holes at night, meaning you must sacrifice some of your restaurant operating time for a night dive to catch them.

5. Preparing for Boss Fights

Major story checkpoints often end in a boss fight (e.g., the Giant Squid). Boss arenas usually have ammo and oxygen scattered around. Make sure to craft or equip a powerful gun (like the Sniper Rifle or upgraded Red Sniper) before heading into a mission objective marked with a red exclamation point.
