Immortal Severance Ending Route — "Stay Loyal to Kuro", Fountainhead, Divine Dragon & Sword Saint Isshin
Immortal Severance is the standard, canonical ending of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It requires staying loyal to Lord Kuro on the Ashina Castle rooftop, defeating Great Shinobi Owl, progressing through Fountainhead Palace, claiming the Divine Dragon's Tears, and defeating Sword Saint Isshin in the silver reed field.

Route Step: Start at the Ashina Dojo idol and climb out the window to the snowy rooftop. When prompted by Great Shinobi Owl during the cutscene, choose "Break the Iron Code, Stay Loyal to Kuro". Defeat Great Shinobi Owl in a grueling 2-phase battle to receive the Aromatic Branch.
Route Step: Talk to Kuro in his room. Burn the incense in the burner to acquire the scent. Travel to the Wedding Cave Door idol in Ashina Depths, enter the palanquin, and let the giant rope man take you to Fountainhead Palace. At the entrance bridge, defeat the True Corrupted Monk across 3 phases (stealth deathblow phase 2 from the trees!). Proceed to clear the entire Fountainhead Palace area (See Part 9: Fountainhead Palace).
Route Step: After reaching the Palace Grounds idol, ascend the rock face to the Cloud Sanctuary. Pray at the stone maiden altar. You will be transported to the Divine Realm. First, clear the Old Dragons of the Tree. Then, face the majestic Divine Dragon. Avoid its massive wind sweeps and perform 5 consecutive mid-air Lightning Reversals to bring it down. Execute a final upward slash on its eye to claim the Divine Dragon's Tears.
Route Step: You will awaken back in Kuro's Room. The castle is now fully invaded and ablaze. Travel through the underground secret passage (where you lost your arm in the prologue) to reach the silver reed field in Ashina Reservoir. Here you must face Genichiro, Way of Tomoe (Phase 1) and immediately after, the ultimate boss Sword Saint Isshin (Phases 2–4). Utilize every skill—deflection, Mikiri Counters, lightning reversals, and combat arts—to best him in a spectacular endurance battle.
Sword Saint Tactics: Deflect Katana slashes in Phase 2, Mikiri Counter long spear thrusts in Phase 3, and perform mid-air Lightning Reversals in Phase 4 to stun-lock Isshin.
Route Step: After defeating Isshin, walk over to Lord Kuro lying injured in the center of the silver field. Interact with him. When the menu appears, select "Administer Divine Dragon's Tears". Do NOT select options containing other items if you want the standard ending. Sit back and watch the Immortal Severance Ending cutscene where Wolf becomes the next Sculptor.
You have completed the Immortal Severance ending! Your next step is to begin New Game+ from the Dilapidated Temple idol.
