India's cricket talent pool is currently deeper than it has ever been in history. With the massive success of the IPL and domestic circuits, we have enough world-class talent to field not just one, but two fully competitive national teams on the global stage.
Often, legendary players and rising stars are forced to sit on the bench because there simply isn't enough space in a single XI. This leads to the question: Why not launch two national teams simultaneously?
To manage this massive depth, India could split into two distinct squads, each with its own identity and schedules. These aren't junior or "B" teams—both are full national teams capable of winning any trophy on the planet. Here is the branding:
The primary powerhouse squad representing India's top-tier dominance. The Tigers will participate in all ICC events and major tournaments with a slight edge in preference for marquee matches. Each squad will have its own dedicated calendar of bilateral series, ensuring a year-round presence of elite Indian cricket globally.
Equally prestigious and representing the depth of India's talent, the Elephants are a full-status national team. Like the Tigers, they will compete in all ICC events and championships independently. They will also manage their own dedicated schedule of bilateral series, bringing strategic brilliance to every corner of the cricketing world.
Imagine a World Cup or a Champions Trophy with two Indian teams in the mix. Both teams would be eligible to play in all ICC events, championships, and international series. This isn't about dividing talent; it's about doubling India's dominance in the sport.
What do you think? Is it time for the BCCI to launch these two giants?
