The 2026 Grand Chess Tour Finals is currently underway at the prestigious Saint Louis Chess Club in Missouri. Qualified as the top four finishers of the 2026 Tour season across Bucharest, Warsaw, Zagreb, and Saint Louis, the participants are Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu (Seed 1), Wesley So (Seed 2), Fabiano Caruana (Seed 3), and Vincent Keymer (Seed 4).
The tournament is organized in two stages: the Semifinals (Aug 22–24) followed by the Championship Final & 3rd Place Match (Aug 25–27, currently pending). Each match consists of 2 Classical games (6 pts win, 3 pts draw), 2 Rapid games (4 pts win, 2 pts draw), and 4 Blitz games (2 pts win, 1 pt draw) for a maximum of 28 points.
Dominant 2026 Tour leader. Scored a decisive win with Black in Classical Game 2 after Keymer’s time trouble blunder to take a 9–3 lead into the rapid and blitz rounds.
Defending GCT champion. Drew both tense classical encounters against Wesley So, then clinched a critical bonus blitz tiebreak win to lead 8–6.
Solidity master with 6 points from two classical draws. Wesley has 12 points still available in the Rapid and Blitz games to mount a comeback.
Germany's #1 held a solid draw in Classical Game 1 but trails by 6 points after Game 2. Needs strong rapid and blitz performances to challenge Pragg.
The Grand Chess Tour Finals employs a unique multi-time control scoring format where every individual match tests grandmasters across Classical, Rapid, and Blitz chess. A total of 28 match points are at stake. All scheduled games are played in their entirety.
