Part 10: Magma & Aqua Hideouts

Phase 1: Mt. Pyre & The Red/Blue Orbs

Before you can infiltrate either hideout, you must witness the events unfolding at the mountaintop monument of Mt. Pyre.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough:

1. Access Mt. Pyre: Fly to Lilycove City or Route 121. Surf south from Route 121 to locate the island entrance of Mt. Pyre.
2. Climb the Peak: Enter the building. Instead of climbing the internal floors, find the exit doorway on the first floor to go outside onto the mountain slopes.
3. Defeat the Villains: Fight your way through the dense fog and defeat the Grunts on the slopes to reach the peak.
4. The Orb Theft: At the summit, you will watch Archie steal the Red Orb and Maxie steal the Blue Orb.
5. Obtain the Magma Emblem: Talk to the elderly couple standing at the peak after the cutscene. They will hand you the Magma Emblem, which is key to opening the Magma Hideout.

Mt. Pyre Wild Encounters (Exterior Peak):

Phase 2: Magma Hideout (Jagged Pass)

With the Magma Emblem in your possession, you can now locate the hidden entrance to Team Magma's main base of operations.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough:

1. Locate the Hidden Gate: Fly to Mt. Chimney, and take the Cable Car down or go south onto Jagged Pass. Near the center of the pass (specifically where a single tree sits next to a ledge), the Magma Emblem will react. A secret cave opening will blast open in the rockface.
2. Navigate the Caves: Inside, navigate through the steam vents and lava pathways. Expect heavy battles with Magma Grunts using Fire and Ground type Pokémon.
3. Defeat Admin Tabitha: Near the lower depths of the caves, you will be blockaded by Admin Tabitha. Defeat him to clear the path forward.
4. Awaken Groudon: Head deeper to the volcanic chamber. You will find Groudon sleeping in a pool of magma. Walk up to Maxie to trigger the awakening. The Blue Orb will glow, and Groudon will awaken and fly away.
5. Battle Maxie: Frustrated by Groudon fleeing, Maxie will immediately challenge you to a battle. Defeat him to secure the hideout.

Phase 3: Aqua Hideout & The Submarine Escape

After Groudon escapes, Team Aqua prepares their submarine in Slateport to execute their own plans. You must stop them.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough:

1. Investigate Slateport: Fly to Slateport City. Head to the shipyard/harbor north of the Museum. You will see Captain Stern giving an interview, which is cut short as Archie and Team Aqua steal the submarine from the docks.
2. Enter the Cove: Fly to Lilycove City. Go to the beach in the northeast part of the city. Use Surf and enter the cave opening inside the cove.
3. Navigate the Teleporter Maze: Inside the base, you must stand on circular warp pads to teleport between rooms.
   Tip: To navigate the main rooms, follow the warp paths logically, defeating grunts to gain experience.
4. CRITICAL STEP: Grab the Master Ball!
   Do not leave the base without the Master Ball. From the room containing the executive desks and teleport pads, take the far-left teleporter pad. In the next room, take the leftmost pad of the three. Continue taking the leftmost pad until you reach a room with four item balls. The top-right ball contains the Master Ball! (The bottom-left ball is a Nugget, and the other two are actually Level 30 Electrode in disguise!).
   Warning: Once you clear this hideout, the entrance is sealed permanently. If you miss this Master Ball now, you can never get it again.
5. Defeat Admin Matt: Head to the submarine bay. You will find Admin Matt guarding the docks. Defeat him to progress, although it will buy Archie enough time to dive away in the submarine.

Aqua Hideout Wild Encounters:

Catching Groudon & Kyogre in Pokémon Emerald

Step-by-Step Post-Game Catching Guide:

1. Complete the Game: Defeat the Elite Four and become the Champion of the Hoenn League.
2. Visit the Weather Institute: Fly to Route 119 and enter the Weather Institute. Go to the second floor and speak to the lead scientist standing near the computer screens.
3. Check the Weather Forecast: The scientist will report abnormal weather on a specific route:
   • Drought (Intense Sunlight): Groudon has spawned! The scientist will specify the route (Route 114, 115, 116, or 118).
   • Heavy Rain (Downpours): Kyogre has spawned! The scientist will specify the route (Route 105, 125, 127, or 129).
4. Locate the Legendary Pokémon:
   • For Groudon: Go to the route mentioned by the scientist. Search the route for a newly opened cave entrance called the Terra Cave. Walk inside to find Groudon waiting at Level 70.
   • For Kyogre: Go to the route mentioned by the scientist. Search the water for a new dark patch of water requiring Dive. Use Dive to enter the Marine Cave, swim through the underwater path, and resurface to find Kyogre waiting at Level 70.
5. Act Fast: The locations are temporary. If you take too long or travel elsewhere, the caves will disappear and spawn in a different location. Speak to the Weather Institute scientist again to update the tracking.
