Far Cry New Dawn Retrospective Review
75 / 100 (Good)
Acting as the narrative epilogue to Far Cry 5, New Dawn introduces light RPG health bars, weapon tiers, and the thrilling "Expeditions" mechanic that flies players via helicopter to iconic United States landmarks (Alcatraz Island, Louisiana bayous, abandoned aircraft carriers) to steal high-value packages. While the light-RPG bullet sponge enemies proved controversial for traditional shooter fans, the saw-blade launcher and vibrant neon post-apocalyptic aesthetic deliver infectious fun.
The Good: Inventive Saw Launcher weapon, stand-alone Expeditions maps across the USA, satisfying base-building in Prosperity.
The Bad: Tiered bullet-sponge enemy health bars, weaker main villains compared to Joseph Seed.
