Jackdaw Naval Combat & Upgrades

1. Essential Upgrade Priorities

To survive the hostile southern waters of the Caribbean, upgrading the Jackdaw is not optional. Below is the optimal progression path for your ship upgrades:

• Hull Armor (Priority #1): Increases your maximum health. Without at least Reinforced Hull (Level 3), southern hunters will shred you in seconds.
• Broadside Cannons (Priority #2): Multiplies the quantity of cannonballs fired. Crucial for breaking armor at mid-range.
• Mortars (Priority #3): Your long-range initiator. Indispensable for capturing high-level military Forts and weakening Galleons before they spot you.
• Heavy Shot & Round Shot: Upgrading these damage values directly speeds up boardings and minimizes damage taken.

2. Resource Requirements & Farming

Upgrades require Cargo resources: Metal, Wood, and Cloth. The best way to farm these is targeting specific ship types:

3. Legendary Ships Strategy

There are four Legendary Ships located in the corners of the map. They represent the ultimate naval challenge in the game:

El Impoluto (North-West)

Highly aggressive rammer. It will attempt to charge you constantly at extreme speeds.

• Use Chain Shot to slow down its charge.
• Brace immediately if a ram collision is unavoidable.
• Fire Heavy Shot directly into its rear when it turns.

HMS Prince (South-East)

A ghost ship wrapped in fog. Uses high-damage mortar fire.

• Stay close to its stern to avoid its massive broadside broads.
• Constantly adjust your speed to escape mortar targeting circles.
