Essential strategies to survive longer, catch better fish, and navigate the Blue Hole safely.
In Dave the Diver, your oxygen meter serves as both your health bar and your dive timer. Always prioritize spending your gold on O2 tank upgrades in the iDiver app before upgrading your harpoon or suit. The longer you stay underwater, the more profit you make.
Catching fish alive yields 3-star meat, which sells for more money and provides more portions than fish killed with lethal weapons. The Hush Dart (tranquilizer) is arguably the best early-to-mid game weapon because it allows you to easily put fish to sleep and capture them perfectly intact.
If you exceed your weight limit, Dave becomes encumbered and swims significantly slower. This makes you a sitting duck for aggressive sharks and burns through oxygen faster. Don't be a hoarder—drop low-value items like basic kelp or starfish if you need room for high-value shark meat.
As you explore, always take mental note of where the yellow oxygen shells and escape pods are located. Do not push your luck. If your oxygen runs out and you die, you are only allowed to keep a single item from your entire dive, resulting in a massive loss of potential profit.
Using the dash button burns through your oxygen incredibly quickly. Only use it to dodge aggressive predators or to catch exceptionally fast fish. For general traversal, stick to normal swimming to maximize your dive time.
