Boss Battles: Spoiler-Free Combat Guide

General tips, combat strategies, and preparation advice for taking down the Blue Hole's biggest threats without spoiling the story.

1. Weapon Selection is Crucial

While the Hush Dart and Net Gun are the absolute best weapons for normal fishing, they are completely useless against bosses. If you know you are heading into a mission objective (usually marked by a red exclamation point on your tracker), craft or equip a high-damage lethal weapon like the Sniper Rifle or Grenade Launcher.

2. Use the Environment

Boss fights take place in closed-off arenas. The developers designed these encounters so you don't get soft-locked. Take a quick lap around the arena as the fight starts—you will always find spare oxygen pods, ammo boxes, and often weapon crates scattered on the sea floor. Use these to resupply mid-fight.

3. Learn the "Tells"

Every major encounter operates on a pattern. Bosses will always telegraph their massive attacks with a "tell" (e.g., drawing back, a glowing eye, or a specific sound). Do not get greedy. Wait for the boss to attack, dash out of the way, and then shoot them during their recovery animation.

4. Death is Forgiving

Don't panic if a massive creature surprises you and wipes out your oxygen. Unlike dying during a normal dive (which forces you to lose almost all your loot), dying during a boss encounter usually prompts a "Retry" option. This puts you right back at the start of the fight with your current loadout.

5. Maximizing the Reward

Upon defeating a major threat, you will harvest a large amount of unique boss meat. These ingredients are used to create massive, highly expensive one-time dishes. Don't serve this dish on a random Tuesday! Save it for a themed Party Event or until your Cooksta rank is higher so you can squeeze every drop of profit from it.
