Recommended Build & Upgrades
The enemies in Toyotama are tougher. Upgrade your gear before proceeding.
- Recommended Legend: The Phantom Samurai. Ensure your katana is at least Level 4.
- Recommended Armor: Sakai Clan Armor (gained during this act) for massive melee damage bonuses and Standoff streak increases.
- Key Stances: Wind Stance is mandatory. Spearmen become very common and aggressive in Act 2.
- Ghost Weapons: Smoke Bombs. Essential for escaping bad situations and setting up chain assassinations.
A New Horizon
Your first steps into the beautiful but dangerous Toyotama region.
- Step 1: Ride with Lord Shimura. Enjoy the scenery but be ready for combat as you approach the lighthouse.
- Step 2: Use the hwacha (fire arrows) to decimate the Mongol reinforcements. Aim slightly ahead of moving groups.
- Spoiler-Free Tip: This mission is heavily combat-focused. Equip armor that boosts health and melee damage.
Ghosts from the Past
Return to your ancestral home.
- Step 1: Head to Omi Village. It is heavily guarded, but you can sneak through the outskirts.
- Step 2: Reclaim the Sakai Clan Armor. This armor is arguably the best for open combat in the entire game.
- Step 3: Engage in a duel. Study the opponent's unblockable attacks (red glint) and dodge accordingly.
A Message in Fire
Recruit the infamous pirate Goro to bypass the Mongol blockade.
- Step 1: Meet Lord Shimura at the smuggler's camp and convince Goro to sail to the mainland.
- Step 2: Defend Goro's ship from Fort Mitodake using the hwacha. Accuracy is key to protect the vessel.
The Ghost of Yarikawa
Break the siege of Yarikawa and unlock the legendary Ghost Stance.
- Step 1: Sabotage the Mongol siege engines under the cover of darkness.
- Step 2: Duel General Temuge. Use water stance and dodge his flaming sword attacks to defeat him.
- Step 3: Unleash the Ghost Stance to terrify the remaining Mongol forces and rally the Yarikawa samurai.
From the Darkness
Infiltrate Castle Shimura alone and poison the Mongol supplies.
- Step 1: Sneak into the castle without being detected. Utilize the rooftops, assassinations, and your new Ghost Armor.
- Step 2: Poison the fermented milk supplies to decimate the Mongol ranks from within.
- Spoiler-Free Tip: This mission forces a pure stealth approach. If you are spotted, use smoke bombs immediately to re-enter stealth.
