An in-depth analysis of CD Projekt Red's sci-fi RPG masterpiece.

What is the game about?

Cyberpunk 2077 is set in the dystopian year of 2077 in Night City, California. Players control V, a customizable mercenary who, after a heist gone wrong, ends up with the digital ghost of legendary rockerboy and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) living inside their head. As the cybernetic biochip slowly overwrites V's mind, they must navigate the cutthroat underworld of megacorporations, street gangs, and netrunners to find a cure before they disappear completely.

With the release of the massive 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty spy-thriller expansion, the game has undergone a historic mechanical redemption. Redesigned skill trees, vehicle combat, and dynamic police AI make it a truly premier sci-fi sandbox.

How is the game optimization?

Running on CD Projekt Red's REDengine 4, the game is a graphical showcase but has extremely high hardware demands. It scales phenomenally on modern PCs, supporting Ray Tracing, path-traced Overdrive mode, DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation, and FSR. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the game runs wonderfully in Performance mode targeting 60 FPS, and also features a 30 FPS Ray Tracing mode.

Phantom Liberty is widely considered one of the greatest game expansions ever made, adding a completely new spy-thriller storyline, new districts, and exclusive weapons.
